Sangfor’s Excellent Cybersecurity Solutions and Swift Local Support Help Quam Plus Financial Save a Third of Their Time
Time is of the essence in the financial services industry. That’s why, to ensure network efficiency and security, it’s essential to choose a solution provider that offers superior functionality and quality service. Last year, Quam Plus Financial, a Hong Kong-based financial institution, decided to adopt Sangfor as their cybersecurity provider and selected two of our flagship products. The solution underwent robust testing to ensure its stability and reliability. Additionally, during deployment, Sangfor provided rapid local support services, such as creating and communicating through a WhatsApp group, which saved considerable time for Quam Plus Financial’s IT team. This efficient support made the entire deployment process smooth and successful.
Sangfor Solution: Cyber Guardian MDR + Cyber Command + Endpoint Secure
Quam Plus Financial was listed in Hong Kong in 1997, with businesses spanning stocks, securities, futures, brokerage, and corporate finance. Ricky Hau, the head of the Information Technology Department at Quam Plus Financial, pointed out that Sangfor’s product capabilities are on par with those of international brands they had used in the past. However, Sangfor stands out by offering superior threat intelligence, which encompasses both national and international threats, swift local support, and better cost-effectiveness. With confidence in the Sangfor team, Quam Plus Financial adopted the Cyber Guardian Managed Detection and Response (MDR) solution with Cyber Command and Endpoint Secure as the technology components, shifting from passive monitoring to proactive defense.
The entire project, from testing through deployment and implementation, took only about two months. Ricky praised the smooth process and the significant support provided by the Sangfor team. Notably, Cyber Command offers an API solution that integrates with different firewalls, allowing it to seamlessly fit into the existing technologies at Quam Plus Financial. This eliminated the need for a complete product overhaul and gave staff a transitional period to adapt.
Ricky Hau says that Sangfor’s solution offers high cost-effectiveness and 24/7 local support, making it highly suitable for their company’s needs.
Positive Outcomes: Fast Service Response and Powerful Product Capabilities
Ricky mentioned that the foreign brands they used in the past often couldn’t provide timely support due to time zone differences. He exemplified, “We once sought technical support at 9 a.m. but didn’t receive a reply until 4 p.m.” Additionally, issues took two to three days to resolve via email communication. Such long delays caused much inconvenience to the IT team, especially when they faced situations where they were uncertain of the problem.
There has been a significant improvement since Quam Plus Financial switched to Sangfor Cyber Guardian MDR. This service offers 24/7 network and endpoint monitoring, ensuring that any suspicious activity or security incident is swiftly identified, investigated, and responded to. Furthermore, a WhatsApp group has been created where Sangfor experts instantly answer security questions and provide guidance and support during incident investigation, response, and recovery, 24/7.
This transition has brought many positive outcomes. Now, the company’s IT team no longer needs to wait hours or days to receive technical support. Instead, they can contact experts through the WhatsApp group at any time and get immediate answers. This has greatly improved problem-solving efficiency and helped mitigate potential losses and risks.
Moreover, Ricky finds the Cyber Command interface simple and easy to use. He comments, “Previously, we had to regularly scan our servers to check if patches were needed. Now, the product automatically scans every day. For instance, the reports indicate which employees are using weak passwords, which I think is very useful.” More importantly, Sangfor has significantly reduced false positives compared to previous solutions, saving the IT team approximately one-third of their working time.
Sam Lai, Sangfor’s pre-sales consultant on the project, adds that the products previously used by Quam Plus Financial only issued alerts based on behavior analysis. In contrast, Sangfor’s solution incorporates threat intelligence and uses advanced AI technology to automate and accurately analyze the authenticity of incidents. This reduces the time staff have to spend on analyzing alerts and allows them to focus solely on responding to genuine security incidents.
Sangfor’s Unique Design Meets a Critical Requirement
Ruby Chan, the senior sales manager at Sangfor, recalled a key requirement from Ricky during the testing phase: to test whether the solution would cause network latency. Ricky jokingly referred to this phenomenon as “Monday syndrome,” which describes the slowdown of the entire network whenever employees turn on their computers after a holiday weekend. “You might not notice it if you’re just checking emails,” he said, “but it becomes apparent when you’re engaged in stock trading or futures transactions.”
Later, it was discovered that these regular slowdowns were caused by existing security products downloading and installing updates when employees restarted their computers on Monday. With over 300 computers updating at the same time, the company’s network was severely affected. This was a significant issue in the time-sensitive financial services industry, where time is money. Ricky pointed out that many products they had previously tested for proof of concept (POC) suffered from “Monday syndrome,” but Sangfor’s product did not.
Sam explains that Sangfor considered this situation during product design. Therefore, updates are split into smaller parts, eliminating the need for large one-time downloads or updates upon startup. This approach allows customers to maintain up-to-date security protection without compromising the user experience.
Impressed by Sangfor’s powerful and cost-effective solutions, Quam Plus Financial found their local support services particularly satisfactory and plans to adopt our cloud security products in the future.
